We stayed at the hotel a few times - we checked in and out in the same week after our plans changed at short notice. We stayed in a mix of older and newly renovated rooms on different floors, but all were a good size with all the expected facilities and advertised features. Beds are softer than most other beds in the region - we slept well here. The rooms and the hotel is clean and comfortable, and it has some real character and charm too. The breakfast is big and satisfying - it runs from earlier than most hotels - good for early starters. The mountain view is gorgeous and worth the extra fee. The location is fabulous, with shops and some excellent restaurants nearby, and not far to walk to some Almaty sights. The carpark at the hotel makes it very convenient to see Almaty and use the city as a base to explore the surrounding areas. The staff at reception are professional and helpful, most speak multiple languages including English, and they really enhance the experience of staying in this hotel.

Stayed in Almaty only for 3 nights. We had booked a suite as there were three of us. The room was in one of the more recently upgraded upper floors. It was very spacious and clean. We have heard from one of our fellow travelers (but cannot confirm) that the rooms in the lower levels have a basic soviet style architecture which apparently is not very comfortable. So, booking rooms in the upper floors is recommended. The breakfast was good - no different than any other North American continental breakfast (but probably with less options). The location was central, and we could walk to the cable car going up to Koke Tobe (the recreation area up a small hill with great views of the City). The city was quite safe and we were never had any occasion to feel apprehensive.

It's very close to kok tobe gandola Station. Almaty is plagued by traffic jams but this location never has any traffic jams. Now for the hotel itself. Lets face it, it's old but it is well maintained with retro looks from the 80s and 90s. If you ignore this fact then the rooms are quite ok and are neat and clean. The view from the hotel is completely awesome. We were fortunate enough to get on 23rd floor and to be honest the view was awesome. The breakfast was quite nice and multiple items on the menu. We didn't have any other meal over there so cannot comment on it. I will highly recommend any one for this because of the price, the views and the history and legacy that it carries.

The newly renovated room with a great view; the awesome location with a vivid ambiente and the subway nearby; the courtesy of the staff and the many available facilities, including cash exchange, a small 7/24 supermarket and a rooftop restaurant.

The staff are nice, the room is clean and we have a good mountain view. The location is also near to many restaurants and walking distance to kok to be. Its a good experience and memory as I left Almaty being engaged😉
